Cost-effective Gigabit Fiber Switch for Residential and FTTx CPE Applications
The PLANET GSD-805F provides 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports with 1 SFP port shared to provide Gigabit fiber uplink capability and non-blocking wire-speed performance for various applications that need long distance data transmission. It is designed in mental shape which is ideal for easy deployment of cabin / desktop network.
The GSD-805F plays as a high-performance edge device for FTTx solutions. With one mini-GBIC 1000Base-SX / LX SFP (Small-Form Factor Pluggable) interface support, the deployed distance of the GSD-805F can be extended from 550 meters (via Multi-mode fiber) up to above 10/20/30/40/50/70/120 kilometers (via Single-mode fiber, respectively). To build a network solution of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) or FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) for ISPs and FTTB (Fiber to the Building) for enterprises, various distances of SFP are optional choices for customers. The GSD-805F can handle extremely large amounts of data in a secure topology linking to a metro Switch, backbone or high capacity servers.
Energy-Saving
The GSD-805F uses new engine that provides energy saving up to 40% less energy than normal Switch but not reduce the performance. The GSD-805F incorporates two advanced Green Networking technologies:
• Idle Mode Link Down power saving
• Intelligent Scales Power based on cable length
The Idle mode Link Down power saving of the GSD-805F complies with IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard to automatically lower power for a given port when it is not linked. With the Idle mode Link Down power savings technology, the GSD-805F will automatically adjusts power usage of the ports that are shutdown or not connected to network device. The other green technology adopted, Intelligent Scales Power, is an intelligent algorithm that actively determines the appropriate power level based on cable length. When connecting to the GSD-805F with Ethernet cable shorter than 20m, a device can obtain maximum power saving because the GSD-805F would automatically detect the Ethernet cable length and reduce power usage. The connected device can substantially reduce overall power consumption, which makes a significant contribution to energy saving.
Full Range Internal Power Supply
With the compact metal housing design and equipped with a full range internal power supply, the GSD-805F is ideal for easy installation for desktop or space-limited environment. With the convenient internal power feature, users can directly plug the device's power cable in the outlet without worry of additional cumbersome power adapter affecting the installation.
EuP / ErP Ready
To comply with European Union's Energy-using Products (EuP) Directive for further reduction of the energy consumptions, the GSD-805F is built with a power switch offering off mode and standby mode selection at its rear panel. The PLANET Green Networking Switch greatly helps to eliminate the power consumption at home, lower the business operation cost and fulfill the responsibility of a corporate citizen.

Providing 16Gbps internal switching fabric and 9k jumbo frame ability, the GSD-805F can handle extremely large amounts of data in a secure topology linking to a backbone or high capacity servers. The GSD-805F provides 8K MAC address table and 1Mbits buffer memory. It offers wire-speed packet transfer performance without risk of packet loss. The high data throughput of the device makes it ideal for most Gigabit environments, especially for the network upgrading to a Gigabit environment.
Plug & Play
All RJ-45 copper interfaces in the GSD-805F support 10/100/1000Mbps Auto-Negotiation for optimal speed detection through RJ-45 Category 6, 5 or 5e cables. It supports standard Auto-MDI / MDI-X that can detect the type of connection to any Ethernet device without requiring special straight or crossover cables. |

In multiple applications, the advanced functions of the GSD-805F eliminate traditional issues associated with current Ethernet environment. Normally, the TP port transmit distance can be up to maximum 100m, but the fiber optical uplink capability support in the GSD-805F guarantees the throughput to all nodes hooked into the network and the Gigabit Ethernet distance can be extended from 550 meters (via Multi-Mode fiber cable) up to 10/20/30/40/50/70/120 kilometers (via Single-Mode fiber). |
